The Associate Dean of the college is a twelve-month position which reports to the Dean, serves as the Chair of the College Leadership Council, and works closely with the Dean and the staff to carry out the objectives of the College. Areas of responsibility include curriculum development and implementation; enrollment management for the College including the facilitation of recruitment, admission, orientation, advising and retention; carrying out special projects as directed by the Dean; interacting with the university-wide community in a variety of leadership capacities. • Tenured in one of the disciplines of the College of Agriculture or closely related fields.
• Holding the rank of professor in the College of Agriculture or related area within Cal Poly Pomona.
• A record of administration, program development and college-level instructionPreferred/Desired Qualifications
• Experience in using academic technology and databases
• An earned doctorate or terminal degree in a relevant field is preferredApplication Procedure
Evaluation of Candidate:
Candidates will be judged on demonstrated leadership ability within a decentralized mode of administration involving consultation and successful communication with various College constituencies including faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends, professional associates and the public; on developing good working relationships with people from diverse specialties, as well as skill and sensitivity in dealing with educational equity and diversity issues.
Appointment Date/Salary: The University seeks to fill this position by January 1, 2010. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

California State Polytechnic University, Pomona is one of 23 campuses in the California State University. It is located about 30 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, and is part of one of the most dynamic, economical and cultural regions in the country. The College of Agriculture serves approximately 1,700 majors in 9 degree programs offered by five academic departments: Animal and Veterinary Science; Apparel Merchandising and Management; Food Marketing and Agribusiness Management and Agricultural Science; Plant Sciences and Human Nutrition and Food Science. In addition, the college includes the W. K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center, the Equine Research Center and the Apparel Technology and Research Center. There are field laboratories which support programs within agriculture and other areas of the university. The College plays a significant role with the LandLab and its Center for Regenerative Studies and is developing a new demonstration and education center in sustainable agriculture and urban horticulture called AGRIscapes. The College has recently developed a strategic plan which emphasizes future directions in agriculture within an urban environment. The Associate Dean is an integral part of a leadership team consisting of the Dean, four department chairs, a faculty senator and graduate coordinator. The College also has a full-time student recruitment coordinator, a director of development and IT coordinator.
