The budget crisis in California continues to have a severe impact on the CSU. State support has already been cut by at least $750 million and an additional $200 million cut may be triggered in November. One effect will be continued and increased restrictions on travel, especially international travel. These pressures mean that Cal Poly Pomona will continue to not be able to support international travel.
Accordingly, do not expect that state funds will be available for international travel. The only funding source for international travel will be grants for which the travel is related to the grant objectives – not general Indirect Cost Recovery funds. Please keep these new limitations in mind in considering conference attendance, panel participation, presentations, or other scholarly activity.
This is an unfortunate development, but one which reflects the new budget reality in California.
