Affordable Care Act--Covered California

Covered California ™ is available for individuals that are not eligible for health insurance through their employer or don’t have access to health insurance. Covered California™ has a menu of affordable health insurance options for individuals to choose from. Cal Poly Pomona is required to forward notices announcing Covered California™ to all employees, regardless if they are benefits eligible or not.

Travel Guidelines

Revisions to International Travel – Highlights: All international travel by faculty for university business must be reviewed and approved by the Provost prior to departure. International travel that supports the mission of the university may now be supported using State and/or Foundation funds. Travel to high hazard areas must be approved by the Provost and the Chancellor’s Office prior to departure. Refer to the Procedures for Faculty International Travel link listed above for further details.

Notice: Pension Reform Act Potential Impact

The Public Employee Pension Reform Act of 2012 was signed by the Governor on September 12, 2012 and will impact CSU employees in several ways, including service credit purchase options:

As of January 1, 2013, CalPERS members may no longer purchase Additional Retirement Service Credit, also referred to as “Air-Time”. This type of service credit is defined as non-qualified service credit, is not based upon actual employment, and cannot be used to qualify employees for retirement, health, or dental benefits vesting.

Notice: Student Evaluations

Pursuant to Article 15.15 of the newly ratified Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU and the CFA, student evaluations shall be conducted for all courses. Implementation of this new requirement will begin effective winter quarter 2013.
